Frequently Asked Questions

In this is FAQ section we intend to give an answer to the most recurring questions about the features of the excursions, the course of the journey and the way to make reservations. If you don´t find the answer to your question, we will be glad to help you out via the link contact us.

1 - What is the time schedule of the excursions?

For the main excursions from Salta, the guests will be picked up between 7.00 and 7.30 (AM) in their hotel, valid for hotels in the center and surroundings (in case of doubt about the location of your hotel, please verify).
Return is foreseen between 18.30 and 19.30 (for the excursion Puna and Salt Flats, sometimes return is around 21.00)

2 - Is the lunch included?

Meals are not included in the tour, but there is sufficient time foreseen to enjoy the wonderful “Salteña” gastronomy. Your guide can recommend some places to eat, without any compromise whatsoever. The choice of where and what to have for lunch is totally up to the guests. You are also free to bring your own lunchbox.
During the trip, as well some stops will be made at service (gas) stations where the guests can buy snacks and beverages, coffee or tea, etc… and where bathrooms may be used.

3 - Which type of transport is used for the tours?

There are 2 ways depending on the number of people registered for the excursion (the list of participants is closed the day before the trip).
Most of the times, transport is by means of a minivan with capacity of 15 to 24 persons (in high season, sometimes a coach is used for the Cafayate trip). In this case, a driver and a guide will travel with the group.
When there are few passengers, a jeep 4x4 (type Amarok, Hilux) or a car (type Kangoo or Duster) will be used. In that case, the guide will also fulfil the role of driver.

4 - Which type of cloths to wear/bring for the excursion?

Generally we recommend wearing several layers, so during the day you can adjust in order to feel comfortable in line with the changing weather. We suggest jeans and sneakers or sportswear.
For the rafting, bring spare cloths as your cloths used during the activity will get wet.
For the horse riding, we recommend long trousers, sneakers and socks.
For the mountain biking, bring comfortable cloths, preferably sportswear, sneakers and slippers.

5 - Do children pay?

No, children travel for free or pay 50% according to the following scenarios: up to 3 years old, the trip is for free. From 4 to 6 years old, 50% will be charged. From 7 years and more, 100% of the value will be charged. More information here.

6 - Are there any health risks in relation to the altitude of the sites?

In principle there is no risk.  Generally, we do not recommend to travel to places like San Antonio de los Cobres or to the Great Salt Flats for persons with heart problems, nor to persons who suffer from vertigo or blood pressure. Please consult your doctor in case of doubt.

7 - Are there any stops foreseen during the excursions?

Naturally! To all destinations, some stops are foreseen on the way.  Some breaks will be held to allow you to take pictures, enjoy the landscape, or have a short walk. In accordance to the interest of the majority of the group, other breaks aside the preexisting ones can be held on the way to your destination.

8 - How to pay?

To make reservation, and hereby secure your place, we require a down payment of 50% of the requested journey.
Actually, passengers residing outside Argentina and Latin america can pay the 100% via Paypal or a deposit of 50% and the balance in cash in the office.

9 - What happens in case of rain?

Rain season in the North of Argentina is from mid November to the beginning of April (more info here).
All destinations are places where the sun prevails. Nevertheless, this does not withhold the possibility that due to exceptional rain fall, some road may be blocked temporary by some river floods, landslides, or similar…
In the event that it is not possible to leave town, and the condition of the road does not allow for a safe journey, rescheduling will be proposed. When the guests are not available on any other day, reimbursement will follow.
